Under a Sky Full of Stars

Under a Sky Full of Stars

Last Saturday, Alison, Memito, Jimmy, Donnie, and I embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. As mentioned in our previous blog about chasing the Northern Lights, we were all set for another celestial quest.

We hit the road just past 4 PM, and after a scenic three-hour drive, we arrived at the Wichita Mountains Visitor Center just in time to catch the sunset. Despite the late hour, the view was nothing short of magical, with the moon rising gracefully behind the mountains.

The forecast looked promising according to the Aurora app, so we decided to wait for about an hour to see if the Northern Lights would make an appearance. While we waited, the sky put on a spectacular show of its own, filled with countless stars. The weather was perfect for stargazing—comfortable and clear.

As the night deepened, I couldn’t resist pulling out my camera. The fun began as everyone used their mobile phones to paint with light, creating whimsical and artistic photos. We took turns posing against the backdrop of the Milky Way, each shot more creative than the last. After capturing individual moments, we attempted a group photo, which turned into a hilarious endeavor as we tried to find the perfect shot. But we did it, and the results were fantastic!

Although the Northern Lights eluded us, the night was far from disappointing. We all left with big smiles, cherishing the experience of a perfect night under the stars.
